There are eight goals set by United Nation and giving the name MDG (Millennium Development Goals). And set a time table for achieving this within the year 2015. And this goals for all United Nation member country i.e.192 country .The eight goals are:
1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger.
2. Achieve universal primary education
3. Promote general equality and empower women.
4. Reduce child mortality.
5. Improve maternal health.
6. Combat HIV AIDS, malariea and other diseases.
7. Ensure environment sustainability.
8. Develop global partnership with development.
In the informative General Assembly meeting, the UN will accept Bangladesh’s performance on MDGs mainly reducing child mortality which has garnered worldwide approval.
"The United Nations will acknowledge Bangladesh's performance in attaining MDG goals during the UN General Assembly," Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith told a review meeting on the government's 'Ekti Bari, Ekti Khamar' project, also joined by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office.
Bangladesh has already achieved several targets of the eight-point MDG goals and is on track to achieve the other goals within the deadline of 2015, said our Finance Minister.
The country's achievements particularly in minimizing the child mortality rate under the MDG 4 targets earned high global appreciation while the UN decided to formally acknowledge the performance.
The UN earlier appreciated Bangladesh's "noteworthy progress" in attaining MDGs saying Bangladesh had done remarkably and may well reach several of the MDG targets before the stipulated time of 2015.
For this achievement Bangladesh Government Shekh Hasina achieve award from UN.
