The name Cox's Bazar originated from the name of a British East India Company officer, Captain Hiram Cox who was appointed as the Superintendent of Palonki today's Cox's Bazar .Cox’s Bazar is the world largest beach. It is about 120 km long .It has many hotel, motel and resort which are very cheap and world class. We can proud with it.

But today some money hangers try to increase their business by decreasing the beauty of this beach. They built up hotel, motel into the beach. As a result decrease beauty day by day. So I think every body need to take initiative steps to stop it.
Tuesday (07/06/2011) the High Court declare that to remove all illegal construction from sea beach within a month .Delivering a judgment on a court order petition, the court also ordered the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to protect the environment and natural beauty of the sea beach.
A division bench comprising Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore ordered the government to submit a report in compliance with the directives to the court within 40 days.
The Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh filed the writ petition on January 10 this year seeking necessary directives on the authorities to protect the largest sea beach of the world from the encroachment and earth fillings.
The petition was filed following a report headlined “Grabbers feast on Cox’s Bazar” published in The Daily Star on January 5.
Earlier on January 10, the HC ordered the government to immediately remove all permanent and temporary structures from Cox's Bazar sea beach to keep it intact and save its natural beauty.
