Bangladesh Bank takes new decision for commercial banks ....

Recently Bangladesh Bank takes some decision for different commercial bank . If such types of bank agree to continue there banking activities they must follow the decision. Otherwise Bangladesh Bank stops all activities of particular bank .

The decisions are:

• The ratio of urban and rural branches of commercial banks will be 1:1;

• Bank branches within city corporations and municipalities will be considered urban branches;

• Bank branches outside the aforementioned areas will be considered rural branches;

• The rural branches will become urban branches if a municipality or city corporation is extended to that area; and

• The rural branches will become urban branches if that area becomes a municipality.

According to central bank's June 2010 data, the total number of state-owned, private, specialized and foreign bank branches in the country is seven thousand two hundred forty six.
